First week!

Wow- what a great first week!  I cannot believe how awesome each and every child is.  We had a lot of fun learning classroom routines and getting to know each other a lot better!  Below you can see some pictures of us during the first week of school.

Snowball fight: here are the kiddos having an indoor snowball fight.  This is a really fun getting to "snow" you activity!

Reading: First, we talked about how to choose a good fit book.  We used the acronym "IPICK."  I- I choose P- purpose I- Interest C-comprehend K-Know the words.  We also learned that there are 3 different ways that you can read a book.  Please ask your child to show you those three different ways.   We also set up some expectations for Read to Self.  Below you will see the children picking books, finding a comfy spot, and reading to self.

Spaghetti in a Hotdog Bun: This is a story about a girl, Lucy, who is picked on by the class bully, Ralph, for being different than her classmates.  In the end, Ralph needs help and Lucy is the only one who can help him.  Lucy taught us that even though we may all be different on the outside, we still have a heart with feelings on the inside.  Here you will see your children learning just how different (or similar) we are from each other.
